The Ten Foot Polecats

(rollover image for a little
Jim Chillson action)
I was delighted to see the
Ten Foot Polecats at Memphis BBQ and Blues in Milford, NH. They play a driving, mesemerizing form of Blues! Their heros are
T-Model Ford, RL Burnside and the Hill Country Blues artists.
They are a cross between North Mississippi Hill Country Blues and Punk Blues. Hillgrass Bluebilly is the record label they are on from Austin Texas.
It is easier to understand when you see a video clip, check them out on their web page:

Nostalgia, The Speakeasy (article link)

BBQ Bob Maglinte, Rosy and Peter Goff in the Speakeasy.
Photos by Mary Rosenblatt.

Photo above is Jack, the door man. I remember thinking that he was so much older than me. One night he lent me TOM LEHRER record and when I was walking home that night (I lived right up the street from the Speakeasy) I got chased by a young man in the dark of night and I remember thinking I HAD to outrun him because the only thing I had to defend myself with was that record and Jack had just lent it to me. I ran as fast as I could and took an unanitcipated right and flew up the stairs to my apartment and had my key in the door and was in so dam fast, he just kept running past. Phew!

Rosy Rosenblatt's wife Mary sent me
pictures from the late 1970s. It was a great issue,
Peter Ward wrote the article.
